Le Parpaillon - AOP Gigondas rouge - 2023

Description

The vineyard lies at an altitude of between 300 and 350 metres in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, a jagged mountain range that is a delight for lovers of unspoilt nature and rock climbing. The soil is clay-limestone. The vines, terraced on the hillsides, enjoy maximum sunshine. To produce our Parpaillon, we mainly use our finest vines, trained on stakes. 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre Winemaking: Hand-harvested with sorting. Vatting for an average of 25 days to preserve the fruitiness and aromatic freshness of the grapes. Racking is determined by tasting, followed by 12 months’ ageing in barrels in the Château’s cellars. La Parpaillon, this marvellous high-altitude terroir, reveals itself even more fully in this particularly fresh vintage. Typical aromas of menthol, thyme and pine cones accompany the extreme delicacy of our Gigondas. On the palate, it is lively, taut and complex… Superb. The finish is exceptional, leaving captivating aromas of wild strawberries and blond tobacco on the palate. A wine for every occasion and every pleasure, from a lasagne gratin to a quiet evening with a good book. Enjoyable now, it will age well for up to 20 years in the cellar.
